Continuing the Navigation of 
Family Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Worker’s Compensation

With the ever-changing scenarios that the employee population faces, Human Resources is a critical component and facilitator in ensuring that leaves are handled with delicate care.  Whether an employee needs leave because of a serious health condition or leave to take care of others, leave issues regularly come up in the workplace setting.  Navigating the current leave laws can be very difficult.  Employees depend on working with a practitioner who understands the leave laws and can guide them through the process.  Join us for this highly informative program, as we take you through common leave scenarios that arise in the workplace and the importance of following consistent practices, including policies, procedures and an established Return to Work program.

Our Presenters:

John L. Knorek, Esq.: Mr. Knorek joins us with over 35 years of experience in dealing with Employment Compliance, Employment Litigation and Labor Relations.  Mr. Knorek is currently a Director at Torkildson, Katz, Hetherington, Harris & Knorek, Attorneys At Law.  In this upcoming program, Mr. Knorek will focus on the legal facets, recommendations and how to navigate through FMLA and the ADA.

Joan Mishima: Ms. Mishima is currently a Risk & Safety Management Client Service Consultant at First Insurance Company of Hawaii and holds an Independent Adjuster’s License.  With over 30 years of experience in the Worker’s Compensation field, Ms. Mishima had previously worked for DTRIC Insurance, Industrial Indemnity and Island Insurance.  Ms. Mishima will focus on the Worker’s Compensation claims management and how to best follow your Return To Work Programs, including providing modifying/light duty options.
