The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and JuniorAchievement USA have formed a collaborative partnership to promote work readiness in high schools across the country.  The partnership will use the strengths and expertise of both organizations to engage human resource professionals, educators and JuniorAchievement (JA) associates in initiatives that better prepare young people to become successful adults in the ever-evolving world of work.  In the spirit of this collaboration, SHRM Hawaii is partnering with JuniorAchievement Hawaii to serve the youth in our local communities.

What is Junior Achievement?

Junior Achievement is a national not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to inspire young people to succeed in a global economy. Since its founding in 1919, JA has contributed to the business and economics education of young people throughout the world, reaching over 4 million students in all 50 states.    Locally, Junior Achievement Hawaii has served our youth since 1957, with operations in Oahu, Hawaii Island, and Kauai.  Their programs help prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate and effectively manage wealth, create jobs for more robust communities; and apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Students put these lessons into action and learn the value of contributing to their communities.

How Can I Get Involved?

At the high school level, JA Hawaii’s programs help students make informed and intelligent decisions about their future, and foster skills that will be are highly useful in the business world. These programs include classroom-based training that focuses on career success, job shadowing, and entrepreneurship.  For more details on programs, go to  As program schedules are integrated into school curriculum and planned well in advance, we are currently recruiting for volunteer facilitators for 2018.
