I'm Close to Retirement, Now What?

Do you have an aging workforce close to retirement?  If so, this program will provide you with useful information on Social Security and Medicare.  This information will help your workforce plan for retirement or other life events.  You will walk away with answers to the following questions:

  • When will I be eligible to receive social security benefits?
  • How will my social security benefits be calculated?
  • What is the best age to claim your social security benefits?
  • What is the future of Social Security?
  • When do I have to enroll in Medicare?
  • Do I have to sign up for Medicare if I have retiree health benefits?
  • Can I have both Medicare and employer insurance after age 65?



Charina Masatsugu is the Group Medicare Account Manager for Kaiser Permanente and has been with Kaiser since 2009. She previously worked as a Medicare Sales Representative selling and promoting the Individual Kaiser Senior Advantage Plans, and eventually moved into her current role where she provides Medicare education and employer consultation on retiree health plan options and strategies.

Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, Charina has worked as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative, a Health & Wellness Coordinator, and a Health Education Coordinator.  She has worked in the health care industry for 23 years.

  Jane Burigsay is the Hawaii Public Affairs Specialist and Military Liaison for the Social Security Administration. She  has over 20 years' experience with the agency both in technical and supervisory roles. She conducts numerous presentations about Social Security programs and performs as the liaison between congressional offices, community organizations, military, the media, and other government agencies.  Her section on Social Security is offered free of charge.  If you would like to attend this free portion of the seminar, please contact for information on how to register.
