Everyone today is aware of the importance of engagement--we all want to be engaged with our jobs, our hobbies, our friends. We enjoy, and commit to, the things with which we can make a visceral connection. Much has been made of the connection between employee engagement and employee retention--although recent economic conditions suggest . . . . .
 
 
 
 
For some, it can be tempting to consider diversity an expendable expense when viewed among an organization's list of other compelling business initiatives. When budgets are reviewed and projects are slashed, diversity can be one of those initiatives that fall by the wayside. Even in a boom market, many organizations have a tough time mustering the interest, time, money and, most importantly, organizational commitment to address diversity concerns.
