Human Resources Executive Leadership Program
Leading the Workforce of Tomorrow

Program purpose: To enhance the visionary and strategic leadership capabilities of Human Resource executives of tomorrow that will drive organizational performance excellence through a formalized Fellowship program.
Program details

2021 will be our inaugural cohort for the Human Resource Executive Leadership Program!  Created and shaped by HR volunteers on the SHRM Workforce Development Committee, we are excited to bring a program to HR Professionals that has been seasoned by input from C-suite and HR executives from companies representing non-profit, finance, insurance, hospitality, and healthcare, to name a few. 

This 6 month program will focus on the following areas:

  • Session 1 - Understanding Self and Emotional Intelligence that will include the Hogan                       Leadership Assessment and a 1:1 coaching session
  • Session 2 - Understanding Change Management and Leading Through Change
  • Session 3 - Upskilling Strategic Leadership and Business Acumen
  • Session 4 - Strategic and Critical Thinking
  • Session 5 - Bridging HR/Sales & Marketing
  • Session 6 - Capstone Presentation and Graduation Ceremony

Through facilitated sessions by the knowledgeable professionals listed below, the cohort will have opportunity to build a strong HR network while also focusing on the aforementioned competencies to equip them for that next level role.

Who is right for the program:

The Human Resources Executive Leadership Program is looking for candidates with a passion for HR, seeking the next level of development necessary to be ready for a strategic HR Leadership role in the Hawaii community.

  • Demonstrated Human Resources Professional, with mid management level responsibilities, interested in pathway to C-Suite or has held an Human Resources leadership role and seeking more development
  • Current, active SHRM Hawaii member
  • Commitment to attend meetings, associated gatherings and to abide by relevant program policies (e.g. Confidentiality, Active Participation, Attendance, etc.)
  • Expression of SHRM competencies and dedication to lifelong learning (SHRM certification preferred)
  • Ability to garner full support from their employer

Time commitment:

This is a 6-month program culminating in a Graduation Ceremony. Over the 6 months, engaged attendance is required at all monthly sessions, as well as commitment to complete all assignments in order to graduate with a certificate.

$3,500 per person

Wendy Nakamura, Principal Consultant and Coach of FORESIGHT Leadership Development LLC

Leveraging her education (M.A., Organizational Communication & Development, Purdue University), and prior experience as an Organizational Development and Human Resources Executive, Wendy brings unique perspective to clients who are committed to learning the skills and practices needed to build relationships, engage and align teams, and promote a healthy culture as the foundation for achieving results and leading transformational change in organizations.  

Wendy specializes in coaching leaders who are preparing for the next level of leadership by guiding them to identify success factors for new roles, discover learning opportunities, and focus on key relationships.  Wendy effectively adapts her approach to serve clients from small and large organizations, and from a wide variety of professions and industries.  Consistent with her personal mission, she values partnering with leaders and organizations that are working to improve the lives of people in our community.


Patrick R. Powaser, PhD

 After 25 years inside of Fortune 500 corporations, Pat founded Ho’ohana Partners LLC to provide executive coaching and leadership development & business strategy consulting. He also provides advisory services to boards of directors and family-owned companies. Pat has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels at Iowa State University, San Francisco State University, University of Phoenix, and University of Houston-Downtown.  

Charletta Wilson, PhD, Founder/Principal -  CaPeesh Consulting

Charletta has over 25 years of industry experience in HR, Consulting and Higher Education.  As an industrial and organizational psychologist, she supports leader effectiveness through leader development programs.  Charletta is executive coach to senior leaders in U.S. national security and corporations and is a Certified Dare to Lead™ facilitator, where she teaches a global audience how to grow courage skills.  She is certified to deliver multiple behavior and emotional intelligence assessments. Charletta also serves as faculty in Schools of Business and Psychology at Indiana Wesleyan University and University of Phoenix.
